Why IBR Certified is Different?
IBR Certified — Sustainability Risk is the first sustainability risk certification designed around learning, not just testing, hence only limited seats are available. The faculty who teach your masterclass are the same practitioners who assess your work — which means your feedback is not generated by an algorithm or marked by a stranger. It comes from the people who watched you think, challenge and apply frameworks across three days of live instruction. They know your context. They know where you grew. And they will tell you exactly what that means for your practice.
IBR Certified ends with a conversation. Every participant — whether they pass or are working toward a second attempt — receives a personal feedback call with their assessor, a full breakdown of their performance across every component, and specific guidance on what to build on next. You leave knowing not just whether you passed, but why — and what kind of sustainability risk professional the evidence says you are becoming.
Certification Process
One seamless journey: expert-led learning, live assessment and personalised feedback from the same faculty.
Your final score combines three weighted components: masterclass participation (20%), written assessment (40%) and live group exercise (40%) — because how you think and engage matters as much as what you know.
01
The Sustainability Risk Management Masterclass is the required preparation program for the Sustainability Risk credential. It equips candidates with the frameworks and practical tools to identify, assess, and govern sustainability risks across the organization.
The program covers 10 chapters across three modules:
Module 1 — Understand the Evolving Sustainability Landscape and Implications
Understand how sustainability have become a core enterprise risk concern, driven by an interlocking set of forces: regulation, capital market and investor expectations, litigation and enforcement, stakeholder scrutiny, and physical and systemic disruption. This module introduces those drivers and establishes a working taxonomy of sustainability risk across the environmental, social, and governance domains, equipping leaders to locate where exposures sit, how each is being reshaped by regulatory and market pressures, and which require deeper attention.
This module includes four chapters:
Chapter 1 — The Sustainability Risk Imperative
Chapter 2 — Environmental Risks
Chapter 3 — Social Risks
Chapter 4 — Governance Risks
Module 2 — Prioritize Sustainability Risks
Identify and prioritize the company's material sustainability risks, using leading methods of risk identification and assessment (including financial and double materiality), scenario analysis to stress-test resilience, and a business case that translates risk into the financial and strategic language leadership requires. This module builds the discipline of prioritization required for board and executive decision-making and equips participants to link sustainability risk to enterprise value, competitiveness, and resilience.
This module includes three chapters:
Chapter 5 — Identifying and Assessing Material Sustainability Risks
Chapter 6 — Scenario Analysis
Chapter 7 — Building the Business Case for Sustainability Risk Management
Module 3 — Integrate and Report
Embed sustainability into the company's risk management strategy, governance, and operating model, with the disclosure and reporting discipline required to demonstrate progress and withstand scrutiny. This module covers integration into enterprise risk management (drawing on leading frameworks such as COSO ERM and ISO 31000), governance and accountability structures, strategic integration into capital allocation and transition planning, and the data, disclosure, and assurance practices that support defensible reporting and continuous improvement.
This module includes three chapters:
Chapter 8 — Integrating Sustainability into Enterprise Risk Management and Governance
Chapter 9 — Strategic Integration and Operating Model
Chapter 10 — Disclosure, Data, and Continuous Improvement
Details of the 10 chapters can be found in the Program Overview.

Assessment Day — What to Expect
Note: The weightage of written assessment (40%) and live group exercise (40%) .

The assessment is designed to reflect how Sustainabilty risk is actually governed — through judgment, analysis and collaboration, not memorised answers. Here is exactly what happens on the day.
9:00 AM — Written Assessment opens 30 open-book questions covering the five Sustainability risk domains and the regulatory landscape. You may refer to your masterclass materials, templates and notes throughout. Questions are scenario-based — they test your ability to apply frameworks to real situations, not your ability to recall definitions. Time allowed: 1 Hour
10:00 AM — A 15-minute break before the group exercise begins. Use this time to review your notes, settle in and prepare for the collaborative session ahead.
10:15 AM — Live Group Exercise begins
A facilitated group exercise observed and scored by a trained IBR assessor. Participants work together on a structured Sustainability risk scenario drawn from a real-world business context. You will be asked to analyse the risk, identify governance gaps, propose controls and defend your reasoning as a group. 1 Hour

Results & Feedback
Results are not delivered by email. Every participant receives a personal 15-minute feedback call with an IBR assessor, scheduled within five business days of assessment day.
On that call your assessor walks you through your performance across all three components — masterclass participation, written assessment and group exercise — with specific, detailed feedback on what you did well and where your strongest opportunities for development lie. You receive your full scored breakdown before the call ends.
We do this because IBR Certified is a judgment-based credential. A number in an email does not tell you how your reasoning held up under pressure, where your framework application was strongest, or what to build on as a practitioner. A conversation does.
How results are delivered
Every participant receives two attempts at the assessment included in their masterclass fee — no additional cost, no application required.
If your first attempt does not meet the pass mark, your feedback call becomes your preparation session for the second attempt. Your assessor will be specific: which component to focus on, which frameworks to revisit, and what the scenario in your group exercise revealed about your current approach.
Your second assessment is scheduled with the next cohort of IBR- Sustainability Risk exam. The format is identical — written exam and live group exercise — with a fresh scenario.
If the second attempt is also unsuccessful, IBR will discuss further options with you individually. Our goal is to help every serious candidate reach the standard — not to create unnecessary barriers.
